Judy Tzu-Chun Wu, Professor of Asian American Studies, UC Irvine, and students will discuss their research project on the participation of Asian American and Pacific Islander women in the historic 1977 National Women's Conference, the first federally funded conference to create a national women's agenda. Inspired by the 1975 United Nations Conference in Mexico City, the NWC attracted 20,000 attendees, including 2,000 delegates from the fifty states and six territories.
