Artist Alison Saar, Scripps '78, will speak about "Breach," her new work responding to the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927. Saar is a sculptor, painter and installation artist whose work explores themes of African cultural diaspora and spirituality. Saar received a dual degree in art history and studio art from Scripps, having studied with Dr. Samella Lewis. Her thesis focused on African-American folk art. She received an MFA from Otis Art Institute in 1981. The Fine Arts Foundation luncheon begins at noon. Cost is $25 with a reservation. Email FAF@Scrippscollege.edu.
