      On Thursday, September 2, the Pomona College Museum of Art launches a new weekly program, Art After Hours. Until 11 p.m. every Thursday night, Art After Hours will offer a variety of programming including lectures, panels, workshops, tours, concerts, spoken word performances, DJ performances and film screenings in conjunction with Museum exhibitions and in partnership with student and academic groups across the campuses. Art After Hours expands access to the Museum as a dynamic venue that presents art as an integral part of campus life.

      Opening Reception: Saturday, September 11, 4-6 p.m.
      Based in Los Angeles, Ginny Bishton has been creating a personal, idiosyncratic body of work that has included meticulous, labor-intensive photo-collages,and minimalist grid-based drawings.For Project Series 41, she will present two bodies of work, including new large photo-collages and more austere pen and ink drawings,each mark foregrounds her labor.

      The Project Series is the Museum's program of focused exhibitions of work by Southern California artists. Its purpose is to bring to the Pomona College community art that is experimental and that introduces new forms, techniques, and concepts. Organized by Rebecca McGrew, this series is supported in part by the Pasadena Art Alliance. A catalogue
      accompanies each exhibition.

      The exhibition, "Steve Roden: when words become forms," consists of a series of new paintings and a newly commissioned, large-scale installation, bowrain, created specifically for the Pomona College Museum of Art. A publication, featuring a collaborative project with Michael Ned Holte, accompanies the exhibition. Supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts' program, Challenge America: Reaching Every Community.
