Activist Ethnomusicology in India's Dalit Community

Ethnomusicologist and filmmaker Zoe Sherinian (University of Oklahoma) offers a lecture on how music and filmmaking offer transformative methods for activist anthropology especially to the study and empowerment of marginalized people. This lecture focuses on theories and methods of participatory video that have emerged from two case studies of the parai (pariah or outcaste) frame drum in Tamil Nadu, South India.
