    "Friendly Layers,"by Tiffanie Allen, Mark Woo, Rosten Morgan, Paul Swanlund, Gail Tran Friendly layers is an exhibition by five artists exploring the possibilities of graphic design as a vehicle for communication, speculative abstraction, and collaborative experimentation in image, pattern and type. Formats include posters, publications, video, animation, typography, wall vinyl and discarded paintings recycled into bags. With Mark Allen, Paul Morgan, Gail Swanlund, Tiffanie Tran and Rosten Woo. Opening reception will be Tuesday, Sept. 26, from Noon-2 p.m.

    "Prometheus 2017: Four Artists from Mexico Revisit Orozco" showcases José Clemente Orozco's mural Prometheus (1930) on the Pomona College campus and examines the multiple ways Orozco's vision resonates with four artists working in Mexico today. Isa Carrillo, Adela Goldbard, Rita Ponce de León and Naomi Rincón-Gallardo share Orozco's interest in the relationships among history, justice, power, social protest and storytelling, yet approach these topics from their own 21-century sensibilities.
